With the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s latest tentpole film, looming over our heads, the MCU’s comics counterpart is putting a different spin on Marvel’s First Family. FANGORIA is excited to exclusively announce that Marvel Comics will be releasing Marvel Zombies: Red Band this fall, a new series that comes polybagged for explicit content — better known as “as much blood and guts as they can muster.”
Issue #1 of the new series is written by Ethan S. Parker, with art by Jan Bazaldua, and a newsstand cover by Greg Land. Two additional variant covers will be available, featuring art by Clayton Crain and Ryan Brown, with a Virgin variant cover also by Crain. The series’ synopsis is as follows:
It was the most important space flight in the history of the Marvel Universe – four intrepid heroes took off into the unknown and returned changed, gifted with great abilities…and hungering for human flesh! Travel back to the birth of a Marvel Universe parallel to our own but chock-full of horror since its very inception! Which heroes will rise to become the champions we know and love? Which will be torn limb from limb? And which will devour the scraps?
This new Marvel Zombies run joins numerous other iconic characters as part of the publisher’s Red Band range, which features significantly more blood and guts than its normal ranges, but not quite as many mature themes as its MAX titles. Other heroes that have gotten the Red Band treatment include The Punisher, Blade, and Werewolf by Night, as well as titles like Wolverine: Revenge and Daredevil: Unleash Hell.
The new series also arrives on shelves just ahead of Disney+’s own adaptation of the zombie universe, also titled Marvel Zombies. Featuring the voices of MCU stars David Harbour, Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Iman Vellani, and more, the series is set to drop on October 3.
