‘Final Destination 6’ Opens Bigger Than Any ‘Scream’ Movie – iHorror

Over the weekend, Final Destination: Bloodlines did what no other rated R film has done in 10 years: Grossed the most at the domestic box office on opening weekend. It also broke some other tough records. Considering it’s up against a Marvel movie that people actually liked, it says a lot that this latest entry came in at number one with $51 million. Furthermore, that’s the stongrest opening for any other movie in the franchise.

Taking it a step further, that gross is also better than any opening in the Scream franchise, including the latest one.

Scream Opening Weekend Dometic Grosses:

Scream 6: Opening weekend: $44.4M; Mar 10, 2023

Scream (5): Opening weekend: $30M: Jan 14, 2022

Scream 4: $18.4M: Арг 15, 2011

Scream 3: $34.71: Feb 4, 2000

Scream 2: $32.9M: Dec 12, 1997:

Scream: $6.3M: Dec 20, 1996

There are currently four horror movies in the top ten this week including Final Destination: Bloodlines: Sinners, Clown in a Cornfield, and Until Dawn.

Sinners is still going strong at number three, with a drop of only 30% and sales wich reached $15 million. Clown in a Cornfield is number eight and it grossed $1.3 million while Until Dawn dropped to number nine and brought in $800K.

Final Destination: Bloodlines has been a hit with fans. Even the noticible CGI hasn’t disuaded them from making it into their top two of “best of the franchise” lists so far.

The story is broader in scope, changing the familiar formula a little, but people have said that it’s a fresh turn, and it actually invigorated the series that hasn’t see an entry in 14 years.

Based on its sucess there will most likely be a Final Destination 7, as Warner Bros. wants to keep that cash flow coming in while the iron is still hot. Needless to say, we probably won’t need to wait another decade for a fresh chapter.
