The undead are about to meet their match in Hellhound, a darkly comedic spin on the zombie genre led by Oscar winners Marisa Tomei and Sam Rockwell, along with acclaimed actor Chris Messina. The film is helmed by Zach Golden (High Heart), who co-wrote the screenplay with actor-writer Ivan Martin.
Set in a sleepy upstate New York town, Hellhound follows a weary veterinarian forced out of emotional hibernation when a sudden zombie outbreak threatens to spiral into nationwide catastrophe. Teaming up with his ex-wife and her new boyfriend—a local cop—they must stop a delusional U.S. president and his militant enforcer from leveling New York City in the name of containment.
Biting political satire meets heartfelt dysfunction as Hellhound injects fresh blood into the zombie genre with a blend of horror, action, and dark humor.
The film is produced by Joseph Restaino, Tony Stopperan, Ivan Martin, and Zach Golden, with production kicking off later this year in upstate New York.
Tomei was last seen in Brothers and has upcoming roles in The Mongoose and Fck Valentine’s Day. Rockwell recently lent his voice to IF and will appear in The Bad Guys 2, Stuntnuts: The Movie, and Wild Horse Nine. Messina, no stranger to complex roles, was recently featured in Juror #2 and has Pressure and Lear Rex on the way.
With its unconventional tone and top-tier cast, Hellhound could be one of the most unexpected zombie comedies of the year.
