Documentary Series “Surviving La Llorona” Premieres This Week – HorrorFuel.com

Texas-based Harrow House Films is about to unleash a chilling new supernatural documentary series, “Surviving La Llorona.” This week, the three-episode series will be dropping on Harrow House Films’ YouTube page. If you want to watch it even sooner, it’s already available on Prime VOD.

Surviving La Llorona” is written and directed by Anubys Lopez. Lopez is also known for his work on spooky titles like Something Scary to Talk About, Aged, and Those Who Call, which are currently streaming for free on Tubi.

This series dives deep into the real-life, terrifying encounters of people who’ve come face-to-face with the legendary La Llorona, the Weeping Woman. She’s the ghostly figure forever haunting rivers and lakes, crying out for her children she tragically lost. While the details of the legend might shift depending on who you talk to, the core tale remains – she drowned her kids and is now doomed to an eternal search for their souls. Through these personal accounts, “Surviving La Llorona” aims to uncover the enduring and potent fear that this legend still holds.

Director Anubys Lopez clearly has a deep connection to this folklore and shared his thoughts on the series. “I grew up hearing the stories — we all did. But making Surviving La Llorona showed me just how real the fear still is. These people didn’t just believe in her… they survived her. And after hearing their stories, you might never hear her cries the same way again.”

Adding his perspective, executive producer Rob Lazaro said, “I was ecstatic to tell these stories with director Anubys Lopez’s unique vision and style. Surviving La Llorona’s personal accounts are each more suspenseful and eerie than the next. The Harrow House team has created something that will transcend cultural and language barriers. I am proud to share these unique accounts with an audience who will hopefully both fear and relate to these stories.”

With real-life encounters at its heart and a director deeply connected to the legend, “Surviving La Llorona” sounds like it will be a genuinely chilling take on a classic piece of folklore. Get ready to hear those mournful cries starting May 15th!

If you want more on this haunting legend, I recommend checking out The Curse of La Llorona by director Michael Chaves, who is behind the upcoming film The Conjuring: Last Rites.
