There’s a seriously twisted treat heading our way. Master of mayhem, Eli Roth, is about to unleash a new, original horror flick upon the world, Ice Cream Man.
What Can We Expect?
So, what kind of frosty frights can we expect from Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man? Well, buckle up, because it’s described as “the story of an idyllic summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man starts serving up sweet treats to the kids with some seriously horrifying results.” Forget your Popsicles and chocolate bars; this ice cream truck is dishing out nightmares.
Filming Soon
And get this—Roth’s Ice Cream Man will start filming in Canada this summer. Maybe all that snow will help keep the ice cream extra chilly and the scares extra sharp?
Variety reports that WME Independent will handle the international rights and will introduce it at the Cannes Film Festival. The Horror Section is holding onto the U.S. rights and is planning a wide theatrical release sometime during the second quarter of 2026. So, we’ve got a little wait, but it sounds like it’ll be worth it for a big-screen scarefest.
Roth Speaks Out
Roth sounds absolutely stoked about this project, saying, “I’ve had this idea for a long time, and studios were too afraid of my early drafts. Now’s the time to push the envelope farther than I ever have with what I think will be my most terrifying and insane film to date.” He’s clearly not holding back, which, let’s be honest, is exactly what we want from an Eli Roth horror movie.
He also added, “Films like ‘Ice Cream Man’ are what we created The Horror Section for, to make unrated, boundary-pushing theatrical events the horror fans can all scream about for years. I’m very lucky to have such fantastic partners like MCT and, of course, all the investors in The Horror Section.”
Roth Has His Own Brand of Terror
Eli Roth is recognized for his brutality and gore on screen. He has directed movies like Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno, and Thanksgiving. He’s also an actor, appearing in films like Inglorious Bastards, where he starred alongside Brad Pitt.
The Horror Section
For those who might have missed it, The Horror Section is Eli Roth’s newly launched independent studio. It’s got a clear mission: to make theatrical horror movies without big studio interference, thus giving filmmakers control and freedom.
Sounds like Ice Cream Man could be the perfect, unadulterated taste of what’s to come from this new venture. Get ready for some seriously messed-up soft serve!
