God Save Birmingham PAX build shows survival and stealth in grim medieval streets

Ocean Drive Studio has released fresh gameplay footage for God Save Birmingham, offering a deeper look into its stealth-survival mechanics via a new uncut video of the pre-alpha PAX East build. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam, and this latest footage sheds more light on the grim, handcrafted world of medieval Birmingham.

God Save Birmingham demo gameplay

Following the intense rooftop escape featured in the game’s initial reveal, this update slows things down slightly, placing greater emphasis on foraging, barricading, and stealthy survival. It reflects the protagonist’s earlier, more vulnerable state, armed with little more than a pitchfork and plenty of caution.

Rather than rushing into conflict, players must now read their environment, avoid the more “peckish” locals, and find ways to outwit their enemies through improvisation and grit.

The unedited gameplay trailer provides a grounded look at the core systems already in place, including:

  • Barricading and improvised defence using objects found in the environment
  • Foraging for supplies while navigating a hostile, disease-stricken city
  • Unpredictable NPC behaviour, adding tension and strategy to every encounter
  • Pitchfork-first combat for when things get truly desperate

A grounded journey through chaos

Still in early development, God Save Birmingham is already making an impression with its distinct visual tone, bleak historical setting, and focus on survival through wits over weapons. The studio has promised regular updates as the project moves closer to release, building on momentum gained through hands-on demos at events like PAX East.
