Plants vs Zombies Celebrates Its Sweet 16 with Discounts and More – Droid Gamers

Plants vs Zombies has hit 16 years. So, the folks behind the game are throwing a party straight from Neighborville. Sixteen years ago, a peashooter fired its first shot, and the war for the backyard officially began.

There Are Some Discounts to Celebrate Plants vs Zombies Sweet 16

To mark the 16th birthday, EA is offering some discounts. In the PvZ shop, Dave’s Secret Stash is giving up to 33% off on packs. There’s also up to 20% off on Mini Games, which is a nice bonus for anyone planting peas or munching brains.

The devs are also sharing behind-the-scenes stories from people who helped build the game and from fans who’ve been defending their lawns since the early days. The stories focus on the goofy characters and the endless plant puns.

But the best Plants vs Zombies Sweet 16 celebration is perhaps the celebration video that they dropped. It’s a tribute to the community who’s been enjoying the game for more than a decade. It shows zombies disco-dancing and teleporting.

Did You Know?

In 2009, Plants vs Zombies debuted on desktop by Popcap Games. It was weird, it was funny, and it was instantly addictive. Sunflowers smiling while zombies in traffic cones shuffled across the lawn worked really well for the players.

Later, it leaped to mobile in 2010 and by 2012, EA acquired Popcap. In 2013, Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time dropped with new worlds and zany mechanics.

Meanwhile, Plants vs Zombies 3: Welcome to Zomburbia has been cooking since 2020. It went through a soft launch, then got pulled back for a rework. According to the team, it’s getting a new art style and will have a classic tower defense vibe.
