Netflix’s ‘best show’ you’ve never heard of is ‘what Game of Thrones should be’

Netflix viewers are raving about an underrated TV show on the streaming giant that first premiered in 2019, followed by another season the next year and a special in 2021 to wrap up the narrative, reports Surrey Live.

The drama, set in 17th century Korea, depicts a zombie outbreak wreaking havoc amidst war and civil unrest.

The infection even reaches the Royal family, leading to uncertainty in the line of succession and ensuing power struggles.

Amidst the Machiavellian scheming and political manoeuvring, some characters discover a cure for the deadly virus.

The series boasts a 98 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92 percent viewer rating.

This Korean Netflix series has drawn comparisons to The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones due to its expansive storytelling and terrifying zombies.

The historical setting gives Kingdom a unique feel, distinguishing it from other shows and films in the zombie genre.

One Rotten Tomatoes user wrote: “THIS IS WHAT GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 SHOULDVE BEEN. If GoT season 8 was done right this is what it wouldve looked like.”

Another praised the show’s pacing and storytelling, saying it kept them on the edge of their seat and highly recommending it.

Yet another viewer commented: “Kingdom is proof that the zombie genre still has hope, after correcting the mistakes of the Walking Dead in just 2 seasons.

“Character depth goes DEEP, however unlike the Walking Dead, it still manages to show the horror of the zombies and the power hungry humans.

“Cast performance is outstanding, but this doesn’t show unless you have Korean audio on.

“People who say ‘The script and dialogue deliverance sucks’ are the people who have english audio on.”

They added: “Korean audio is mandatory, subtitles help [sic].”

Another fan chimed in: “If you’re thinking about watching this, just do it already.

“It’s a fantastic story with great action and characters, a really well made show.”
