Danai Gurira has become a common name in the world of television, conquering the screen on AMC’s 11-season run of The Walking Dead. In the post-apocalyptic series, Gurira’s character, katana-wielding Michonne, technically first appeared in the season 2 finale, having rescued Andrea from walkers.
From then until her departure in season 10, Michonne became one of the strongest, bravest, best-developed characters in the series. Her impact on the show is still felt today, as she transformed herself from a rather elusive and withdrawn woman, who suffered like many before the apocalypse, to a profound leader, fearless mother, and most loyal wife.
It seemed there was nothing Michonne could not do. And fans have Danai to thank for bringing this iconic character to life!
Outside The Walking Dead, Gurira has had roles in several films, television shows, while also being a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, among other accomplishments. She will be returning to The Walking Dead in the upcoming spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, reprising her role.
Most recently, Gurira was spotted, dressed to impress, at this year’s 3rd Annual Academy Museum Gala. This fundraising event is just another example of Danai’s star power, as she was photographed in an ivory gown, embellished with gold embroidery and a middle slit.
Her jewelry included rings and earrings, complementing her stunning look. Although many graced the event in exquisite outfits, there is no denying Danai’s was an attention grabber thanks to the gray puffy and ruffled sleeves, which pulls her entire dress together.
