‘7 Days to Die’ has reached a significant milestone with the release of its 2.0 update, titled ‘Storm’s Brewing.’ This update enhances the popular zombie survival crafting game by introducing dynamic weather events, new zombie variants with special abilities, and improved graphics.
Players will now encounter various storms across all biomes, including a burning forest, snowy landscapes, and arid deserts. These storms pose a serious threat, requiring players to find shelter promptly or face potential damage. A visible countdown timer alerts players to the impending storms.
The update also adds a range of new zombie types to challenge players. In addition to the standard zombies, players will now face faster and more aggressive ‘Charged Zombies’ and ‘Infernal Zombies,’ which are capable of inflicting significant damage to structures. The snowy biome introduces the ‘Frost Claw,’ a Yeti-like creature that hurls boulders at survivors, while the desert biome features the ‘Plague Spitter,’ known for releasing toxic swarms of insects.
Graphical improvements are also a key feature of this update. Zombies can now animate fluidly through tight spaces and under shelves, and players will see more realistic representations of food and consumables. The game environment has been enhanced, making tree appearances and placements more natural, with distinct differences between types of trees in various biomes.
Additionally, the long-awaited crossplay functionality has been implemented, allowing players on PC and consoles (including PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) to collaborate more easily. Developers have ensured that PC players follow specific guidelines to accommodate the resource limitations of consoles, facilitating a smoother gaming experience.
This evening, the team from c’t zockt will live stream gameplay of the new version on Twitch, showcasing the latest features and challenges within the game. As experienced players, they will explore the updates, assess their impact, and aim to survive the new threats presented in this post-apocalyptic world.
