Deep East Texas Horror Movie Released – Kicks 105

Deep East Texas Horror Movie Released – Kicks 105

Today is the day that a locally produced and filmed horror movie, The Texas Witch, makes its debut on Amazon, Vimeo, VUDU, and Vubiquity. Your best bet is to rent it on Prime Video for $2.99 or buy it for $9.99.

It is scary out in the forests of Deep East Texas. There are so many trees and you can’t see that far, which is the background for this movie filmed on location in Rusk and Jacksonville.

According to the Lufkin Daily News, the movie was made by Henderson native, Andrew Evans. Being the film’s producer, he said that he specifically chose the areas where this movie was filmed due to their proximity to the Rusk State Hospital.

Scary Movie Made By Locals In Deep East Texas

My grandfather lived in Alto and worked at the Rusk State Hospital. Though the hospital is known for housing violent patients, he never mentioned anything about it that I know of.

We still go by like other locals and say, “Leatherface lives there,” and keep on driving. The scary vibes of the area will hopefully set the scene for Evan’s deadly witch that lives in the Jacksonville Forest.

The movie also stars one of the biggest entertainers from our area. Neil McCoy plays the role of Detective Womak.

Evans said he also had a role in the movie. He is playing the sacrifice and can be seen in this almost 4-minute teaser trailer for the movie.

Watch if you dare, because the East Texas accents make it even more real.
