She has shared her recommendations of what she’s watched
One of the stars of The Walking Dead, Lauren Cohan, has shared her top picks for shows that all fans should watch, including one she claims it’s ‘criminal’ they may have only recently discovered.
Cohan is set to make a comeback in the second season of the spin-off show Dead City, which is one of many series branching off from the main television series based on Robert Kirkman’s popular comic books.
Dead City features Cohan reprising her role as Maggie, alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. This unlikely duo was forced to team up on a journey into a zombie-infested Manhattan in the first season.
The second season resumes a year later with rival factions battling for control of New York City. Fans in the UK have been eagerly awaiting the new season’s release, which is set to be available via Sky Max and NOW on June 1.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Time for Reach, Cohan was asked about her own recommendations for shows she’s currently streaming. When asked what shows she thinks Walking Dead fans should watch, she named three standout series that are worth binge-watching, reports Surrey Live.
Admitting to what some might consider a TV binge-watching sin, the actress confessed she waited far too long to dive into the acclaimed series The Sopranos. She shared: “There’s two things I’m watching right now. I’m finally – this is criminal – but I had never watched The Sopranos and I always had this thing in my mind where I was like, I’ve got to do this when I’ve got time to watch the whole thing, uninterrupted, which is what I’m doing now. I’m now in the last season and just having a great time.”
Not stopping there, she added her current watchlist includes: “I’m also watching The Agency with Michael Fassbender and it’s on Paramount Plus. It’s great, it’s, it’s a really good show. And then Happy Valley is another one. I watch all those British crime dramas.”
The cultural impact of HBO’s The Sopranos is undeniable, with its gripping narrative about mob boss Tony Soprano earning it a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans staunchly defend its merits, one zealously commenting online that it is “masterful and the best TV show ever made.”
The Sopranos is streaming on HBO Max. In contrast, The Agency starring Michael Fassbender as a deep-cover CIA operative pulls its audience back with a story set to premiere in 2024 on Paramount+, capturing hearts not just with spy-jinks but with rekindled romance as well.
Though perhaps less lauded by critics, it hasn’t escaped fan praise, with one calling it “bold, intense and gripping.”
Those wanting to discover Happy Valley for themselves can currently catch seasons on Philo or Fubo TV.
Sarah Lancashire stars as Catherine Cawood, a police sergeant with a tumultuous personal life who still manages to be the best law enforcement officer her small West Yorkshire town could hope for. The show boasts an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, drawing comparisons to acclaimed series like The Sopranos.
One viewer raved: “One of the best TV shows ever created and best British detective show of all time.”
The Walking Dead Dead City is streaming on Netflix and AMC+.
