The biggest news this Friday is that Bring Her Back is now playing in theaters! Talk To Me was amazing, and the Philippou brothers’ newest film is already getting rave reviews. Also out today is a Vietnamese horror/mystery in limited theaters, a new exorcism movie that looks quite creepy, and a unique zombie movie from Mexico (which appears to be releasing on streaming a few days earlier than its announced June 3rd date).

New in Theaters

Bring Her Back

Bring Her Back is the second feature film from twin filmmakers Michael and Danny Philippou.

For viewers who enjoy: Talk to Me, supernatural horror, Australian horror

After the death of their father, orphaned siblings Andy (Billy Barratt) and Piper (Sora Wong) are sent to live with Laura (Sally Hawkins) and her young son Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips). Laura is dealing with grief of her own after the death of her daughter, and it soon becomes apparent to Andy and Piper that there is something sinister going on in their new foster home.

Detective Kien: The Headless Horror

Detective Kien is set in the 1800s during the Nguyễn dynasty of Vietnam.

For viewers who enjoy: Vietnamese horror, period films, mysteries

Multiple headless bodies have been found over the past few years in a small Vietnamese village. The locals attribute the deaths to a ghost, but when a young woman goes missing and her body is not found, Detective Kien is called in to try to find her. Is there really a ghost? Is the missing woman part of the ghost’s actions? Or is everything the result of more mundane machinations? Or, maybe all of the above?
