Florence Pugh channels Meredith Grey in Yungblud’s emotional hospital-set music video

Florence Pugh is trading in her superhero costume for hospital scrubs in her latest role.

No, the Thunderbolts* star isn’t joining Grey’s Anatomy, but she is giving her best Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) for Yungblud‘s new “Zombie” music video, inspired by the musician’s grandmother’s health struggles.

Directed by Charlie Sarsfield, the emotional video is set in a hospital and stars Pugh as a burnt-out medical professional who ultimately breaks down over the tragedies she deals with day in and day out. But she still has a passion for saving lives, as evidenced by the end where a patient’s child holds her hands and sees her with a pair of angel wings.

“Florence Pugh, in my opinion, is one of the most exciting British artists in a long time,” Yungblud told Rolling Stone. “I think she has this individuality that is not adherent to anyone else. She is completely legit and individual within her own style in her own time.”

The pop rock artist revealed that he always envisioned someone like Pugh starring in the music video for “Zombie” when he wrote the song.

“The song is so deep, so emotional, but so fundamentally British,” he told the publication. “I was mindblown watching her on set. And she’s just a legend. You can tell, man. She’s just sat in a pub on a Sunday with a pint of Guinness, just talking s—.”

“Zombie” is Yungblud’s latest single from his upcoming double album Idols (out June 20). He previously released singles “Lovesick Lullaby” and “Hello Heaven, Hello.”

Pugh previously starred in the music video for Rachel Chinouriri’s song “Never Need Me,” which was released in January 2024. A fan of Chinouriri’s music, Pugh reached out to the singer, who offered her a role in the video as the artist’s supportive friend as she breaks up with her boyfriend.
