Bulk: Ben Wheatley Secretly Made a Horror Movie – HorrorFuel.com

The 78th edition of the Edinburgh Film Festival is kicking off this August. Deadline reports that the fest will host the world premiere of a new, top-secret genre movie from director Ben Wheatley! So far, all the significant details of the film and the cast are being kept quiet.

Wheatley is known for his wildly diverse filmography, including Kill List, Free Fire, and Meg 2: The Trench. He’s also behind mind-bending horrors like High-Rise, starring Tom Hiddleston (pictured), and In the Earth. Now, he’s secretly directed Bulk, calling it a “midnight movie.”

The film is described as a “return to the thrillingly free-spirited filmmaker’s homegrown, kaleidoscopic works like In The Earth and A Field in England.” If you loved those uniquely British entries in his filmography, Bulk sounds like it’ll be right up your alley.

Wheatley himself is clearly stoked about the premiere: “I’m very excited and proud to be premiering BULK at Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness,” he said. “This is a midnight film through and through. Car chases, gun fights, sci-fi, and romance. Thanks to Edinburgh for having us. It’s going to be a wild night.”

Festival director Paul Ridd couldn’t be more thrilled either: “We could not think of a better way for us to launch the second year of Midnight Madness at EIFF than with a new trip from a true visionary of cinema,” he stated. “It is guaranteed to bring the house down in August. Bring it on.”

So, if you’re a Ben Wheatley fan looking for a film that promises a wild, genre-bending ride, keep an eye out for Bulk. And we’ll keep you updated as more details surface.
