You knew it was coming. After inking a deal last year with Kojima Productions for a Death Stranding adaptation, A24 has now teamed with Bandai Namco and From Software to announce a film adaptation of Elden Ring. Alex Garland (Dredd, Annihilation) will be handling the writing and directing duties, with Peter Rice producing the film, alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, George R. R. Martin, and Vince Gerardis.
Further details on the film, including cast and release date, weren’t announced.
Elden Ring was created under the guidance of From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, and based on a story written by George R. R. Martin, author of the fantasy novel series, “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
The news comes just as the Elden Ring spinoff, Elden Ring Nightreign, is set to be released next week on May 30 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series and the Xbox One.
Elden Ring was also announced to be coming to Nintendo’s Switch 2 later this year as Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which alongside the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, will include additional content that will eventually be making its way to other platforms.
Meanwhile, the Alex Garland-scripted 28 Years Later will be heading to theatres on June 20, with series director Danny Boyle returning to the chair.
