Netflix’s ‘masterful’ horror series from Guillermo Del Toro is ideal for fans of Love Death and Robots.
Viewers are all set to binge the latest instalment of the animated anthology series as Volume Four arrives on Thursday (May 15). However, as the episodes in the series tend to be on the short side, it won’t be long before fans need something else to watch.
Fortunately, there is already a series, created in a similar vein that should scratch that itch. It has remained somewhat under the radar following its initial release back in 2022, despite its comparisons to other hit Black Mirror and being from the mind of acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
Cabinet of Curiosities sees the Oscar winning director act as creator, executive producer and co-showrunner to curate a collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror.

From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original stories by del Toro himself) are brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro.
The majority of these episodes boast a feature length runtime. They range from 38 minutes to 64 minutes in duration and due to their nature, viewers may only be able to handle one episode per evening.
It managed to register an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with most reviewers recommending the series as a must watch for fans of horror and anthology shows like it.
One critic claimed: “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is like a wonderful night of storytelling around the campfire with beautifully designed sets and talented players. It is an assortment of oddities and eerie sights that is a sure, curious delight.”
