Since news first broke that Kit Connor’s would star in an upcoming medieval zombie horror movie called Rapture, fans have been clamoring for more info about the project. Thankfully, the film’s director has delivered with a crumb of extra info — and it’s exactly what we were hoping to hear.
Jordan Tannahill, the writer and director of Rapture, took to Instagram to share the first promotional artwork for the film, while teasing what the movie has in store in the post’s caption. According to Tannahill, Rapture is “a 14th century horror film about an order of Cistercian monks contending with the arrival of the Black Death. It’s going to be hot, and there’s going to be zombies.”
What exactly does “hot” mean when it comes to a movie about monks fending off a zombie outbreak? Maybe it has something to do with the casting: in addition to Connor, Rapture’s cast currently also includes heartthrobs Manu Ríos and Will Poulter (the latter fresh off a chaotic press tour for Warfare, which he also starred in with Connor).
Entertainment with an edge

Those three are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the anticipated casting for Rapture. According to Deadline’s initial announcement of the movie, it’s set at a remote British monastery in the year 1348, where 10 monks are faced with the moral dilemma of helping commoners escape the zombie apocalypse or protecting themselves and the valuable knowledge stored in the monastery.
Presuming that Connor, Ríos, and Poulter are playing three of those monks, seven more actors have yet to be announced to round out Rapture’s monastic cast — and if we’re taking Tannahill at his word, that leaves plenty of potential for things to get even hotter (and even more zombified).
In his post, Tannahill also confirmed that Rapture is being produced by production companies 2AM, Elevation Pictures, and Bookstreet Pictures, while distributor HanWay Films will be launching the movie at Cannes Film Festival. Until then, we’ll be waiting with bated breath to see how this monk-y business plays out.
