Takashi Miike Goes Brat: Charli XCX set for new film from legendary Japanese filmmaker

Charli XCX and Takashi Miike are the most unlikely duo in history, but our Brat Summer is extending to the cinema as Variety confirms Miike will direct a new film, with Charli XCX producing and starring. Ross Evans (How to Save a Marriage) is penning the screenplay.

The singer-turned-filmmaker is producing through her new Studio365 banner, the same company that is set to make the upcoming A24 movie, The Moment. Charli XCX is coming off Brat, which has become a global phenomenon in pop music. She’s fresh off an appearance at Coachella and a massive tour.

According to Variety, the new actress’s lineup includes ‘The Moment,’ in which she will star, directed by Aidan Zamiri. Charli will also feature in Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Emma Corrin. She’s also attached to Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of Faces of Death and Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman.
