Robert Pattinson Almost Punched Robert Eggers on the Set of The Lighthouse
The biggest challenge in his career was Robert Eggers’ horror film The Lighthouse, which was so difficult to shoot that Pattinson almost punched the director. In a conversation with Interview magazine, the actor said:
“That’s the closest I’ve come to punching a director. However much I love Robert [Eggers], there was a point where I did five takes walking across the beach, and after a while I was like, ‘What the f*ck is going on?’ […] It was like some kind of torture.”

Almost everything in the movie is real. Even the most unexpected things – not only the costumes and locations, but also Pattinson’s intoxication and even the actors’ beards.
The Actor Went to Extreme Lengths to Give His Best Performance
Robert Pattinson, in particular, was obsessed with the idea of pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable and immersed himself in the role as much as possible: during filming, he drank water from a puddle, peed in his pants, and in one of the scenes, he actually tried to vomit.
In an interview with Esquire the actor shared:
“I’m sitting there trying to make myself gag and Robert [Eggers] told me off because Willem’s looking at him going: ‘If he throws up on me, I’m leaving the set.’”
Thanks to such an extreme approach to acting, Ephraim Winslow, played by Robert Pattinson, can rightfully be called one of the most memorable male characters not only in the actor’s career, but in cinema in general.
