BBC’s beloved Pride and Prejudice series has an upcoming reunion – everything to know

The BBC’s beloved Pride and Prejudice series is marking its 30th anniversary with a cast reunion.

The six-part adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel aired in 1995 and saw Colin Firth’s popularity skyrocket after he played the role of Mr Darcy opposite Jennifer Ehle’s Elizabeth.

To celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, as well as Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, Sunday’s episode of The Reunion on BBC Radio 4 at 10am will see host Kirsty Wark bring together several cast members.

This includes Alison Steadman, who played Mrs Bennet, David Bamber, who played Mr Collins, as well as Crispin Bonham-Carter and Adrian Lukis, who respectively played Mr Bingley and Mr Wickham.

Screenwriter Andrew Davies, script editor Susie Conklin (who is also the co-author of The Making of Pride and Prejudice), and Costume Designer Dinah Collin will also sit down with Kirsty to discuss the beloved series.

It’s also been confirmed there will be further content across the BBC later this year to mark Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, with a factual series and special programming on BBC Radio 4 in December with titles including Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.

Meanwhile, a new three-part documentary series titled Jane Austen: Rise of a Genius is coming to BBC Two and iPlayer this Spring.

While the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is turning 3o this year, Joe Wright’s 2005 film starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy is turning 20.
