“In a Zombie Empire” is a mixed-media art exhibition by Isaac Grigar. The show dissects the multiple illnesses of an empire in decline. Its language is abject though esoteric, eerie yet low brow, ushering in moments of tender reflection under brutal psychological conditions. Comprised of contemplative neo-expressionistic paintings and effigial sculptures, the work heralds a reinstation of the sacred, radical compassion and freedom of expression in the face of an ever-changing socio-political environment. From within a society, sleepwalking in a desperate search for meaning. Desire is a weapon. Truth is a restricted resource, yet hope remains. This event is a closing reception. The show runs from April 25 to May 10. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday noon to 5 p.m.
