Sinners Reviews Earn Ryan Coogler Horror Movie a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

The Sinners reviews are beginning to roll in, and Ryan Coogler’s upcoming vampire horror movie is earning massive praise across the board.

What are the Sinners reviews saying?

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, Sinners holds a perfect 100% rating on the review platform as of this writing ahead of its release date on April 18, 2025. The movie has 36 total reviews, all of which shower praise upon the movie starring Michael B. Jordan.

Over on The Hollywood Reporter, David Rooney says the film is “a blood-drenched mix tape that shouldn’t work. But it does, thanks to Coogler’s muscular direction, a terrific cast, enveloping IMAX visuals, body-quaking sound and music that stirs the soul.”

Deadline’s Pete Hammond also praised the film, saying that it shows why “Ryan Coogler is at the top of his generation of filmmakers, and Jordan continues to show why he is a real deal movie star.”

Fresh Fiction’s Courtney Howard called Sinners “a towering achievement” for the genre, saying it’s “a bold, brilliant, bloody and beguiling must-see on the biggest screen possible.”

ComingSoon’s Jonathan Sim also praised the movie’s subtle social commentary, calling the movie a “must-see theatrical experience” that ends up being “better than your average horror fare.”

Along with Jordan, the cast of Sinners includes Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari, Back to Black), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country, Loki), Jayme Lawson  (The Penguin, The Woman King),  Omar Benson Miller (CSI: Miami, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall).

Coogler produces the movie alongside Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler. Ludwig Göransson, Will Greenfield, and Rebecca Cho serve as executive producers.

Coogler made his feature film directorial debut in 2013 with Fruitvale Station. He followed that up with Creed in 2015 before heading to the MCU to make Black Panther in 2018. Jordan starred in all three of those movies. In 2022, Coogler then made the sequel to Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which featured Jordan in a small cameo role. He has also produced projects such as 2021’s Judas and the Black Messiah, 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy, and 2023’s Creed III.

This will be Jordan’s first film since Creed III, which he also directed. He has also starred in movies such as 2012’s Chronicle, 2015’s Fantastic Four, 2019’s Just Mercy, and 2021’s A Journal for Jordan.
