Fans of the Minecraft video game franchise have waited a long time for the theatrical Minecraft movie to come to fruition. Now it looks like their excitement has become heightened enough for police to reportedly be called. According to some sources, cops were called over a screening of A Minecraft Movie due to the audience’s reaction to the “Chicken Jockey” scene.
The “Chicken Jockey” scene was first teased in trailers for the movie. In a recreation of such events in the game, a zombie can be seen riding a chicken. In this particular example for the movie, however, the zombie is dropped on a chicken that is preparing to battle the characters played by Jack Black and DC star Jason Momoa.
It’s Jack Black’s character who reactions by yelling “Chicken Jockey!”, a line that has since become a meme as a result, and one that’s driving crowds wild. As you can see in some of the clips shared below on social media including one which has cops escorting several moviegoers out of the Minecraft movie screening:

Additionally, theater employees are exclaiming their frustrations in separate posts, which is understandable as they’re the ones who have to clean the drinks and popcorn that viewers are throwing around the auditoriums.
At the very least, however, it goes to show that A Minecraft Movie is destined to be a box office juggernaut even with the negative reactions to some of the film’s trailers leading up to its release. Moviegoers including children and adults have been raised on the original Minecraft video game, so there seems to be a desire driven by nostalgia to see what this film has to offer and to celebrate when they see the original game referenced accordingly.
The new film A Minecraft Movie is currently playing in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the surprisingly successful box office hit as we have them.
