Wildfire Cymru Productions has provided an update on filming for “Wildfire Outbreak” in Porthkerry.
The production company said: “Our successful filming at Porthkerry on Saturday, gave opportunities for up and coming actors and film crew from the local area to be part of an apocalyptic zombie series called Wildfire Outbreak.”
The producers have described the film – which has also been filmed in Barry and Cowbridge – as ‘a series based on The Walking Dead, and UK based, an interpretation of what an apocalyptic world of ‘zombie type virus hit Walkers’ would be like.’
The storyline is set before the global Wildfire Outbreak in The Walking Dead’s US universe on August 25, 2010.
The producers said: “In fact, five months before, and a cover-up of what a virus would take here in the UK.”
They added: “This is a low-budget production within the community and for local people to get involved in filming.
“Full episodes for now are due to be released over the next two months, as episode one: The Announcement has completed filming.”
More filming is planned, and those interested in taking part are encouraged to get in touch with the production company.
They also offer regular acting classes for 14 to 18-year-olds, and another for all age groups.
Wildfire Cymru Productions is also working on other projects, including “Lost Days,” another apocalyptic script, and an investigative series.
The company also offers audio work and supports a local initiative at St. Barrucs Chapel on September 27 to produce and perform a yearly historical-based play.
They are developing the movie officially on their YouTube channel: @thewalkingdeaduk.
