I did enjoy the original series back in the day, even though I gave up after maybe 5 seasons.
But having finally gotten round to reading the graphic novels this year I’m astounded they are still pumping these spin-offs out, considering I now know just how drastically they strayed from the source material in regards to the fates of certain main characters, even in the few seasons I actually saw.
Nevermind the relationships they completely ditched from the comics and the ones they subsequently concocted for the screen. I mean, Rick and Michonne are a “thing” now?! Obviously things get altered in adaptations, but in hindsight Walking Dead is pretty out there.
The Walking Dead continues its utterly nonsensical physical release strategy.
The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead annd Dead City each get, at the least, standard Blu-ray and DVD releases.
Daryl Dixon saw only the choice between DVD and Blu-ray steelbook. No standard Blu-ray.
Those Who Live were seeing a release for only a Blu-ray steelbook. No standard Blu-Ray. No DVD.
I’m not a fan of steelbooks. Their extra cost and size are counterproductive to my collecting. I’ll buy a DVD before I buy a Blu-ray steelbook when it comes to a TV show. This may be the first of The Walking Dead I never watch or buy now.
