From its ever-evolving list of characters to its heartbreaking deaths to its truly terrifying zombies, The Walking Dead has cemented itself in history as one of the leaders in primetime zombie drama. But, this universe isn’t just The Walking Dead anymore.
Oh no, this world is far bigger than just that little group we met in the quarry in 2010.
If you’re like me and you’re looking for the next best thing that The Walking Dead world has to offer, these are all upcoming The Walking Dead TV shows and movies, from stories following our favorite characters to brand new tales that we’ve never seen before.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 – The Book Of Carol – September 29, 2024
One of the major shows we were all excited for was The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, a series that took Daryl to France, of all places, and it turns out, it was a ton of fun with a lot of sick zombie moments and a really interesting story – critics even called it “magnifique.”
And now, the first season has come and gone, with its wonderful The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon cast, but Season 2 for the show is already confirmed. What’s better is that this second season is going to bring in someone very close to Daryl’s life – that’s right, the finale set up Carol’s return!
The showrunner for Daryl Dixon, even spoke up about this sudden addition, and said that bringing Carol back was always the goal for this specific spinoff, in an interview with ComicBook in October 2023:
It was confirmed by The Walking Dead Twitter page that the second season would premiere on September 29th, 2024:

Deadline confirmed that this season would follow Carol struggling to find her friend while Daryl deals with the aftermath of choosing to stay in France, which causes “tension” at his new home.
A sneak preview has already been released, as well, featuring our main girl Carol, so check it out below:
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 – TBA
The Walking Dead: Dead City premiered on June 18th, 2023. It followed the story of Maggie and Negan traveling to New York City in order to get back her kidnapped son.
Season 2 for the series is already confirmed, but nothing new regarding it has come out just yet. The only thing we know so far as of updating this in June 2024 is that Jeffrey Dean Morgan said in November 2023 on X that they were all “excited” to get back to it and that he was talking with the whole Dead City crew:
I do. I’m sure we’ll announce something very soon! Been talking with Lauren and rest of DC crew… we are excited to get back to it.November 12, 2023
twIn April 2024, WPRI confirmed that filming for The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 had begun, and in May 2024, The Walking Dead X page gave us a sneak preview of filming going on right now, saying that the second season would come out in 2025:

Also confirmed by Deadline is that Kim Coates joined the second season of Dead City. I mean, can these shows get here any sooner?
Completed The Walking Dead Projects
You know, as someone who has watched this show since the beginning, it’s strange to think of it coming to an end after I’ve had so many memories and made friends just from watching this series. After eleven seasons, The Walking Dead came to an end reaching its emotional finale on November 20th, 2022.
While it was upsetting to say goodbye to several characters that I’ll never see again, I know that this isn’t the end, because of all these spinoffs that are happening, so I’ll mark this down as a “see you soon” for some of my favorite characters. And now, I can happily rank all the seasons from worst to best.
Also completed are Fear The Walking Dead, which ended in November 2023, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, a two-season spinoff show that adds a lot of background information to the world of The Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a miniseries about Rick and Michonne. If you want to check out all three shows, here’s how:
Stream The Walking Dead on Netflix.
Stream Fear The Walking Dead on AMC+.
Stream The Walking Dead: World Beyond on AMC+
Stream The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live on AMC+.
As a fan of The Walking Dead, I am excited to see what new stories the creators and actors plan on bringing to the world of walkers that I’ve grown up on. I’m also slightly nervous, because the last thing I want is to have too many stories all at once to keep track of.
Regardless, whenever these shows are released, I’ll be sitting in my seat with some popcorn, waiting to watch.
