Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Release Date and Zombie-Slaying Trailer Revealed – TechRaptor

Dragami Games has revealed the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP release date, and the remake, which Dragami promises will be faithful to the original, has also received its first major gameplay trailer.

Per the aforementioned trailer, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will arrive across PC and consoles on September 25th, at least in digital form.

The game will also be getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch and PS5 in Japan, although unfortunately, these releases haven’t been confirmed for the West, and it doesn’t look like the Xbox version will be getting a physical release either.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP promises a remake that’s faithful to the 2012 original.

The new trailer shows off the remake’s “RePOP” mode, which features “less violence” and “pop-art damage effects”. There’s also an Original mode, which is closer to the original Lollipop Chainsaw in style and tone.

Throughout the trailer, we see peppy cheerleader Juliet Starling slaughtering zombies with her chainsaw, and we also get to meet Juliet’s sisters Cordelia and Rosalind, as well as their father Gideon, all of whom will serve as support characters.

We’re also introduced to the Dark Purveyors, the villains of the piece. They’re five powerful, larger-than-life zombies with some pretty out-there theming, as you’ll already know if you’ve played the original.

Here, in all its quirky glory, is the debut trailer for Dragami Games’ Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was announced back in 2022, and even as early as that, producer Yoshimi Yasuda was reassuring fans that the game wouldn’t deviate too much from the tone and style of the original.

The game was originally set to debut in 2023, but was subsequently delayed to 2024. Yasuda then revealed that the scope of the project had changed; rather than a fully-fledged remake, it would instead be closer to a remaster.

The recently-released trailer describes RePOP as a “remake”, but it also says the story will be “unchanged”, although quality-of-life improvements and “additional gameplay content” will be added.

In any case, you’ll get to check out Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP when it launches on September 25th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
