Coming about five months after the December 2023 release of “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” returns to the moon Veldt. In “A Child of Fire,” the rebel leader Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her band of fighters seemingly thwarted the plans of the brutal, militaristic regime from the Motherworld to take over the crop of the moon, which is located in the outer reaches of the galaxy.
In “The Scargiver,” however, Kora and her group are surprised to learn that their dictatorial nemesis — Admirable Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) — has survived the climactic events that concluded the first film even though he appeared to be mortally wounded.
In an exclusive interview with Looper, Skrein suggested that there could be two more “Rebel Moon” movies, a concept that seems to make sense since the ending of “The Scargiver” indicates more adventures are in the offing. Commenting on how critics need to see the full “Rebel Moon” saga before passing final judgment on the film series, he said, “This is a four-part piece, so it’d be interesting once all four pieces are out to analyze, objectively and unemotionally, and see it from there.”
Also starring Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Fra Fee, Staz Nair, and Elise Duffy, “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” debuts on Netflix on April 19.
