The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (AMC, Sunday, 9 p.m.)
The Walking Dead keeps multiplying via spin-offs nobody asked for. The latest is The Ones Who Live, which focuses on the highly anticipated reunion of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The series unpacks what he’s been up to for the past five years at the CRM, and follows the couple’s adventures once they reunite. The six-part season also stars Pollyanna McIntosh, Terry O’Quinn, and Lesley-Ann Brandt. You can read The A.V. Club’s review here.
Shōgun (FX on Hulu, Tuesday, 12:01 a.m.)
James Clavell’s novel, which was previously adapted in 1980, gets another version with FX’s Shōgun, helmed by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks. Set in Japan during the 1600s, the show follows John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), an English sailor who gets shipwrecked and crosses paths with the powerful Lord Toranga (Hiroyuki Sanada). Their lives are further intertwined thanks to Lady Mariko (Anna Sawai), a translator with invaluable skills and family ties. The A.V. Club will recap all 10 episodes.
Hidden gems
Pathological: The Lies Of Joran Van Der Sloot (Peacock, Tuesday, 3:01 a.m.)
Pathological is a 90-minute true-crime documentary from Emmy-winning director Christopher Cassel. The film digs into the life of Joran van der Sloot and his lifelong pattern of violence, which led to the death of two young women, Natalie Holloway and Stephany Flores. It features interviews with family members of his victims, police officers, and attorneys involved in the case.
God Save Texas (HBO, Tuesday, 9 p.m.)
Directed by Richard Linklater, Alex Stapleton, and Iliana Sosa, God Save Texas is inspired by Lawrence Wright’s book of the same name. The docuseries explores Texas’ past, present, and future through the director’s distinct lenses, including a look at the state’s Huntsville prison industrial complex, Houston’s energy business, and the 2019 El Paso shooting.

Code 8 Part II (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)
Robbie and Stephen Amell reunite for the Code 8 sequel. The sleeper hit sci-fi film’s new installment takes place five years after the first. Connor (Robbie) is fresh out of prison and on a mission to help a teenage girl get justice for her dead brother. He has no choice but to seek assistance from his frenemy, Garrett (Stephen), who has now become a kingpin in Lincoln City. Oh, and they all have superpowers. Pen15‘s Jeff Chan returns to direct the sequel.
American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)
Zachary Treitz directs American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders, about the death of investigative journalist Danny Casolaro. Decades after Casolaro died while looking into a political conspiracy about a hidden organization related to government spy software, new facts begin to emerge.
