If there is one character anyone thinks of when mentioning The Walking Dead, it’s Rick Grimes. He’s undoubtedly the main character of the hit AMC show, having juggled a multitude of roles and responsibilities throughout 9 seasons.
Although every character, even villains, on The Walking Dead has gone through trials and tribulations, Rick Grimes is at the top of the list of characters the audience most connected with. He made mistakes, he had victories, he had strengths, weaknesses, and up until his last moments, he put the lives of others before himself.
All that being said, when you think of Rick Grimes iconography, what usually comes to mind? His sheriff hat?
The red machete? His Colt Python?
Or how about his cowboy boots? A newly dropped teaser for The Ones Who Live features just that.
In the 20 second teaser, that you can watch on Twitter, we see the camera pan across several pairs of work boots before landing on a very overworn pair of cowboy boots. Judging by the posture of the person wearing the boots alone, it’s no secret that this is our hero, Rick Grimes.
This teaser, much like the one prior of black gloved hand opening a door with a key, is focused on Rick Grimes. Does that mean we’ll be seeing some Michonne focused teasers too?
Although we do not have a definitive answer about what happened to Rick after he was rescued via helicopter by Anne (Jadis) by the CRM and from what we see in the TWD series finale, it’s becoming apparent that Rick either became assimilated with the CRM or is trying to avoid that outcome. It’s obvious Rick had tried to escape the CRM at least one and failed to do so.
It’s equally obvious the CRM wants Rick to join them instead of using him in their walker experiments as seen in The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Will Rick join willingly to, let’s say, protect his family?
What about as a means of escape or as a way to stop the CRM from the inside? We’ll still have to wait until February 25 to hopefully find out.
