A new Halloween sequel is coming without Rob Zombie as director – imdb

The psychotic Michael Myers will return to the big screen in new sequel Halloween Returns, although Rob Zombie is officially out as director.

Dimension Films is turning over the horror franchise to The Collection director Marcus Dunstan, following the success of director Zombie’s two reboots.

Dunstan was rumoured to be in contention for the franchise earlier this year, and has now also officially been tasked to write Halloween Returns’s screenplay with Patrick Melton.

Melton and Dunstan previously collaborated on the scripts for Piranha 3Dd and Saw 3D, and have also been attached to the God of War movie.

Producer Malek Akkad said today (June 15): “The legacy of Halloween is something that Trancas is very proud of, and I look forward to working together again with Bob [Weinstein] and Dimension to continue that tradition.”

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps for the follow-up to 2009’s Halloween II.
