‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ teaser discloses date of Rick Grimes,Michonne’s ‘return’ – The Economic Times

AMC on Monday released the teaser for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” which will see the return of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira as Michonne from the original series.
The series, which is the next installment of the popular franchise and will release on February 25 on AMC as well as the AMC+.
“‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead … And ultimately, a war against the living,” the description of the showreads. “Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”

Lincoln, who is also an executive producer of the upcoming series along with Gurira, left “The Walking Dead” in 2018 – nearly ten years after portraying the role of former cop Rick Grimes. His character disappeared from the series in Season 9, while Gurira,who played his onscreen wife, left the popular show in Season 10.

In 2022 season finale, the onscreen couple made cameos, hinting at their upcoming spin-off.
In an earlier interview, Lincoln revealed the reason behind leaving the popular frnchise.

“I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older,” Lincoln told EW Radio. “It was that simple. It was time for me to come home.”

“People are going, ‘Where have you gone?” Lincoln said. “Our ambition is to have some answers.”

Meanwhile, Gurira said: “It’s a really exciting story to tell. These two people are so powerful and together it’s insane. This is some crazy love.”
