See The Original DAWN OF THE DEAD In Theaters This Halloween – FANGORIA

Looking to maximize your horror movie-watching potential this spooky season? Lord knows there’s plenty of options – Demián Rugna’s When Evil Lurks is now in theaters, Brian Duffield’s No One Will Save You is freaking people out on Hulu, the tenth installment in the long-running Saw franchise has audiences ensnared in its latest round of traps – but maybe you’re looking for something a little … less new? Perhaps something in the way of a classic?

Well, we’ve got good news: as reported by the good folks over at Bloody Disgusting, George A. Romero’s 1978 zombie classic Dawn of the Dead is returning to theaters this month for one night only, giving veterans and newcomers alike a chance to see one of the greatest “living dead” movies ever made on the big screen. Assuming, of course, that you live near a Regal Cinema. That’s the theater chain responsible for this one-night-only event, and you can pick up tickets via their website even as we speak!

For FANGORIA readers who are somehow unfamiliar with Romero’s film, Dawn of the Dead is the sequel to Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, and revolves around a group of mismatched zombie apocalypse survivors who hole up in a shopping mall in an attempt to stay safe. The film was later successfully remade in 2004 by Zack Snyder, but – and this probably goes without saying – nothing tops Romero’s original.

It’s also just flat-out one of the best zombie movies ever made. So, if you’ve not had the pleasure of seeing it (or, like me, have simply never seen it on the big screen with a sold-out crowd), head on over to Regal’s website to snag your tickets and clear your schedule for (at least) one night the week of October 27th. You’ve got a date with some zombies!
