The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne first look confirms show’s official title – Digital Spy

The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne spoilers follow.

The Walking Dead has unveiled the first teaser for the return of Rick Grimes and Michonne in their own spinoff series.

The footage confirms that the show, which had previously been called Rick & Michonne, will now officially be named The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

The 30-second teaser premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday (July 21), alongside the news that fellow Walking Dead spinoffs Daryl Dixon and Dead City had both been renewed for second seasons.

Michonne is shown emerging from a red fog with her katanas in this new footage, as she says: “I’ve been out here a long time. I lost someone, years ago.

“And then, things changed… I found out that he’s alive.”

The cryptic teaser fades to a shot of Rick Grimes, also filmed under a red shadow, very much alive and nodding to someone off screen.

The six-episode limited series recently finished production, and the crew have been thanked for “bringing home a story more than a decade in the telling” in a letter from producers.

The stage was set for this spinoff years ago, as Danai Gurira’s katana-wielding character Michonne set off from her friends to find Rick and bring him home.

Ricky had been kidnapped by the mysterious CRM group with the help of Jadis Stokes / Anne, who was subsequently revealed to actually be a warrant officer working for CRM.

Originally envisioned as a feature film, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was later announced to be a limited series instead – created by Gurira and The Walking Dead boss Scott M Gimple.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will air on AMC in the US in 2024. A UK broadcaster has yet to be confirmed.
